I was able to work (voluntarily) for a television show for about three years. In this show, it is the youth like me who does everything from pre-production to post-production. Thus, we brainstorm and conceptualize stoties, we shoot, we contact interviewees, we do interview, we write the script, and do on-cam reportage if necessary in our story. We have adult managers who supervise us since there are equipment like the camera and tripod and to guide us as well in every step of the production. But there are times that these adult managers are not around to oversee whatever we are doing.

One instance is a shoot at the University of the Philippines. We were to interview a vice-chancellor then for one of my personal stories and one of my co-reporters was lost and could not find the way to the office where we were supposed to shoot. She held the audio equipment such as the microphone and headset. Needless to say, these equipment were badly needed since the shoot was an interview. Time was running out and the vice-chancellor had other functions to attend to. I decided on my own not to wait for my co-reporter anymore and just proceed with the interview sans the audio equipment. I was very afraid then because the interview might be inaudible or there might be unnecessary incidental sound like that of the air-conditioner. Fortunately, when I reviewed the tapes in our office, the audio was okay and fit for airing. Thank God and my decision to continue the interview.
